The final quarter of 2020 saw significant activity in the social networking space on the iOS platform in Latin America. Sensor Tower's data provides a clear view of how the top players performed in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

WhatsApp Messenger, with its massive user base, displayed a steady increase in downloads, starting at 415K in late September and peaking at 678K in mid-December. Weekly active users remained stable, hovering around the 23M mark throughout the quarter. Revenue for WhatsApp showed an upward trend, concluding the year with $211K in the final week.

Meta's flagship app, Facebook, also experienced growth in downloads, with a notable jump to 445K in mid-December. The app's weekly active users increased from 66M to over 71M during the quarter, reflecting strong engagement. Revenue saw fluctuations but ended on a high note with $75K in the last week of December.

Messenger, another Meta product, had no reported revenue but showed resilience in downloads, maintaining figures above 265K. The app's weekly active users saw a slight decline from 15M to just below 15M by the end of Q4.

Telegram Messenger did not generate revenue but maintained a consistent user base with active users around the 3M mark. Downloads for Telegram varied, peaking at 158K in early November and ending the quarter with around 127K downloads.

Discord - Chat, Talk & Hangout displayed a different trend, with downloads starting strong at 326K and gradually decreasing to 68K by the year's end. Despite this, Discord's revenue showed an impressive peak at nearly $20K in late November. Weekly active users declined from nearly 2M to 1.5M over the same period.
